George Benson - Queen Elizabeth Theatre - June 26, 2010

I went to see George Benson at the QE with my sister. We were probably two of the youngest people there. It's sad that few people in our generation appreciate good music anymore:( There was no way I was going to miss he chance of seeing one of my favourite musicians from childhood perform!

The whole evening was amazing! We got there late so we missed half of Kellylee Evans' performance. What I heard was pretty impressive though.

George Benson and his band were really entertaining; they had so much energy! Most of my favourite songs were played; On Broadway, Kisses in the Moonlight, Give me the Night, Turn Your Love Around, Breezin', Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for you....

Yay, Ghana!!!! (World Cup)

Congratulations to Ghana for beating the USA 2-1 yesterday to reach the next stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup! My heart was beating so fast during the last 10 minutes but luckily they had a good ending. Go Ghana! On to Uruguay next!!!

Bike Riding

Today was the best day of the year so far, weather-wise. I decided it was about time to cross off something from my bucket-list so I went biking around Stanley Park! I had a great time:)

Got to see part of the 2010 Dragonboat Race too, as well as a solitary seal in the waters of False Creek!

Kiku Sushi Restaurant, Metrotown

I ADORE Japanese food! My friend and I decided to go to Kiku Sushi last Saturday. I learned that kiku is Japanese for chrysanthemum.

I can't say enough about this restaurant! Everything I ate was amazingly delicious! I've been dreaming about the tuna tataki for a few days now. I can't wait to go back there!

Gomae! The best, and most delicious, way to eat spinach!

Agedashi tofu. Another one of my favourites!

Tuna Tataki: a new favourite!

Baked Scallop Rolls

Baked Sashimi

Creamy Mushroom Soup

I bought too many mushrooms today for a stir-fry so I decided to make some mushroom soup. It tasted so good that I swear I will never ever buy canned mushroom soup again!

Bill Strickland at Coastal Church

What an honour to hear Bill Strickland speak at my church! To be honest, I had never heard of him before but he had the audience hooked from his first sentence. I'm always interested to hear about people who've turned their own trials into blessings for other people. His talk was definitely inspirational and I look forward to reading his book!

True Confectionary (Denman Street)

I had lemon strawberry cheesecake and Naoko had chocolate cake. I didn't even eat dinner and I couldn't finish that slice! It was good though.

Fish and Chips

Sunday lunch:)

The Very Best - The Biltmore Cabaret (May 28, 2010)

I never thought I'd see the day when a Malawian artist would perform in Vancouver! Well, stranger things have happened! I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening despite all the pushing and shoving. Esau Mwamwanya is a great musician and I hope he makes it big some day!

I cringed when I saw the cheesy palm trees! Nice African cloth though!

Esau  Mwamwanya (wearing the cap) with his fans. What a gracious man. "Zikomo kwambiri" for a fantastic evening!
