Victoria , BC- August 2010

I played tour guide for the day and took my friend on a day trip to Victoria, BC! 

 

I always love going on the ferry, especially when it's a warm, sunny day. I'm always on the lookout for orcas in the water.

Our first stop were the BC Legislative buildings. Our schedule was tight so we didn't have time to go on a tour of the buildings.

Across the street was the Empress Hotel. We wandered around there for a while.

The Inner Harbour was next.

Now that I've moved into my new place, I finally have some time to cook! I attempted a chili recipe made with pork and lots of veggies.

Third World - Commodore Ballroom- August 7, 2010

I missed seeing Third World 8 years ago in Detroit, I wasn't going to miss seeing them again! I bought my sister a ticket as an early birthday gift. We did not regret going at all!Fantastic night! Even more fantastic was a Rastafarian who was way too into the music, dancing, bouncing, skipping and cartwheeling all over the place! I wish I'd taken a picture or a video of that tomfoolery!

Toronto 2010

Never stay at College Hostel! It was the worst place I have ever stayed at in my life and I very rarely complain about accommodations! I hope somebody bulldozes it down, ugghh!! I didn't even want to take a picture of that place, yuck!!!!!!

The only good thing about the hostel was it's close proximity to Kensington Market and Chinatown. I really liked the market; they sold allsorts there and it was very colourful.

Just before the Irie Music Festival we did some shopping at another market where I bought enough shea butter to keep my skin soft for a very long time. It was so cheap! I love Toronto!

This was my first time at the Caribana.I decided to rep Jamaica while Sheila had a Trinidad and Tobago flag.

Who would have thought that among 1 million people I would run into an old friend from college????

The parade was crazy and a lot of fun! I even saw NBA star Jamaal Magloire there!

 After the parade, we went for a walk along the harbourfront. Interesting sights.

At night we went to the Queen Ifrica Concert. Had to drag ourselves back to our smelly hostel afterwards.

Niagara Falls 2010

Yay! Sun! Maybe a little too much but I'm not complaining because the last time I was here it rained the whole day and I missed seeing the afternoon rainbow:(

A friendly local man gave  us a bit of history of the Falls. He was so nice and informative! He told us he was present (three years old) when Queen Elizabeth the Second dedicated the bridge.

All along the road we saw beautiful b&b's and they all had no vacancies.

I went on the Maid of the Mist again. Perfect day to get soaked!

And, yes, we saw the rainbow!!!!!!!

I bought great fudge and peanut brittle from this little place. The owner has been making fudge in there for over 30 years!

Quebec City 2010

A little bit of Europe in North America; I love Old Quebec!Everything is so bright and colourful and there are flowers everywhere; definitely my kind of place.

I love old churches! Loads of them in Quebec!

And the Parliament Buildings. We took a tour of them and I was dumbfounded by the fact we had to register and show our IDs to join the tour. Not even at Parliament Hill did we have to do that. Anyway, it was nice to learn about French-Canadian history and the gardens were beautiful.

The Fort. I can't remember the exact name.  I always feel bad for the guards; I don't try to annoy them, unlike some people (Sheila!).

I have a list of French food from my high school textbook which I must try! I can now cross Croque-Monsieur off that list! We had this at the Cochon Dingue (Crazy Pig). Miam miam!

I heard about this chocolate museum and, being the chocaholic that I am, I couldn't resist! I saw a lot of cool stuff made from chocolate and I was tempted to buy the chocolate umbrella.
