Montreal 2010
I love Montreal! This is one place I can never get tired of. There's so much to see, it's very culturally-diverse, the people are friendly, the food is good! I heard the winter's aren't too great though. While I was there I read an article about Montreal (and Malawi!) having some of the happiest people on Earth! I can totally believe that.
Jean-Talon market is the friendliest, most colourful and interesting market I've ever been to. If I lived in Montreal, I'd shop there all the time. I found the most interesting things there such as mango honey, beeswax and lavender flowers.
On our second day we met the nicest couple, Hisami and Joel, who took us on a tour of Chinatown, Vieux-Port and Vieux-Montreal, finally culminating at a really cool mussel and beer restaurant! We had a great time:)
The next day we went back to Vieux-Port and Vieux-Montreal.We went to see the beautiful Basilica de Notre-Dame which is almost like a museum! It's so beautiful!
We also managed to see Montreal from Mont-Royal although we got a bit lost on the way. It was worth it once we got to the top.
In the evening we watched a soccer match; Vancouver Whitecaps at Montreal Impact. I wish fans in Vancouver were this loud! It was a lot of fun though it did feel weird to be an away fan, though there were a few of us there. There's a great view of the Olympic Stadium from Safeco Field too.
Vancouver won 1-0. Very muted atmosphere in the stadium after that!
